We are also proud to announce a new technical development that will make it even easier for publishers to incorporate gadgets into their toolbars: Now you can add them straight from your toolbar Control Panel.

No more messing around with code or complicated instructions.
Just point, click, and poof - You've got gadgets.

Adding Gadgets to Your Toolbar

  1. Pick a Gadget - Any Gadget - Choose the gadgets you want to include in your toolbar. You can start by looking at LabPixies' library, or simply search the web. Copy the gadgets' URL.
  2. Presentation is Everything - Once you've chosen the gadgets you want to incorporate into your toolbar, decide how you want to showcase them: as a stand-alone button on the toolbar, as an item in an existing drop-down menu, as an item in a new drop-down menu, or as an add-on to another toolbar component.

Add a Gadget Button to your Toolbar

If you want the gadget to launch from its own button on the toolbar, use the following instructions:

  • Login to your Control Panel
  • Scroll down the 'Add' menu and click on 'Gadget Button'
  • Choose an icon to represent the gadget
  • Add text to the icon
  • Enter in the gadget's URL
  • Enter the gadget's width and height (in pixels)
  • If you want, you can add a 'Hint', so that you can tell your users more about the clickable component, when they roll over the gadget button with their mouse

Add a Gadget to an Existing Drop-Down Menu

To add the gadget as an item in an existing drop-down menu in your toolbar, do the following:

  • Login to your Control Panel
  • Scroll across the dummy toolbar in your Control Panel
  • Click on the drop-down menu to which you want to add the gadget (Link-button) and hit 'Edit'
  • Arrive to the page titled: 'Edit Button with Menu'
  • Choose an icon to represent your gadget
  • Go to 'Edit drop down menu' and select 'Gadget' option
  • Enter a caption for the gadget
  • Enter the gadget's URL
  • Enter the gadget's width and height (in pixels)
  • If you want, you can add a 'Hint', so that you can tell your users more about the clickable component, when they roll over the item with their mouse
  • Opt to upload an image to accompany the gadget link (it's automatically resized)

Add a Gadget to a New Drop-Down Menu

If you want the gadget to appear as an item in a new drop-down menu, do the following:

  • Login to your Control Panel
  • Scroll down the 'Add' menu and click on 'Button with Menu'
  • Arrive to the page titled: 'Add Button with Menu'
  • Choose an icon to represent your gadget
  • Go to 'Edit drop down menu' and select 'Gadget' option
  • Enter a caption for the gadget
  • Enter the gadget's URL
  • Enter the gadget's width and height (in pixels)
  • If you want, you can add a 'Hint', so that you can tell your users more about the clickable component, when they roll over the item with their mouse
  • Opt to upload an image to accompany the gadget link (it's automatically resized)

Add a Gadget to Another Toolbar Component

You can use your toolbar's API to add a gadget to other toolbar components, including: RSS, HTML component, external menu, or even another gadget. Check the Conduit Community Forum for more details on how to do this.

Give them Gadgets!

Go on - open up a world of windows for your users. Login to your toolbar Control Panel and add some gadgets now.
