The Art of the Mini-Banner
Conduit Mini-Banner
The advent of myConduit means that you must post a toolbar banner on your homepage in order for myConduit users to be notified of your community toolbar automatically when they surf to your site.
Mini-banners are the least obtrusive (smallest) and most strategic option available.
The idea behind the Mini-Banner is that it's so small, it can easily be squeezed in next to your site's most-used functions (i.e. the ones you have added to your toolbar). So that when visitors to your site are using your site's best bits, they can - in one click - opt to add that functionality straight to their browser - hence 'Add to IE/Firefox'.
Check out some great examples to get those creative mini-banner juices flowing:
Raptzilla placed a mini-banner beside their podcast feed:
Euroscicon, a forum for Life Scientists, placed a Mini-Banner beside their site's logo:
WorldTVCenter added the mini-banner to … you guessed it… their video window!
The Greek Blue Pages added the mini-banner to their most-used 'Links' menu:
Lawyer Links placed a Mini-Banner beside their User Login:
The Morato Avenue tourist site opted to put a mini-banner beside their toolbar ad:
Life Science Directory placed their mini-banner beside their search box:
Last but not least, Second Life Europe placed a mini-banner onto their download page:
Post a Mini-Banner on your site too!
Just Login to your toolbar Control Panel and click on the Banners tab.
