130,000 Participants Support Their Favorite Publishers in the 2009 Conduit Awards January 06, 2010
San Mateo, Calif. – January 6, 2010 – Conduit, the company enabling web publishers to distribute their offerings directly and through its global network of publishers, today announced the winners of the 2009 Conduit Awards, honoring creative development of components and applications offered by web publishers in the Conduit Network. The Conduit Awards was the first competition hosted by Conduit to showcase the talent and innovation of the publishers that leverage the Conduit Platform and the unique content that is offered in the Conduit Network of more than 200,000 publishers and their 60 million users.
“We created the Conduit Awards to show our appreciation to the thousands of publishers that deliver great content via our network. This program is an incredible opportunity for small web publishers to get significant exposure,” said Adam Boyden. “This group of winners not only demonstrated creativity, but also impressive business sense for exposing their compelling content to millions in our network.”
The competition generated considerable participation from both applicants and users all over the world. More than 1,000 web publishers and web application developers submitted their best components, web gadgets, content or functionality in one of eight categories: General, News, Games, Sports, Entertainment, Shopping, Travel, and Technology. The awards program attracted 130,000 users who voted and downloaded components, leading to the selection of two winners in each of the eight categories, as well as an overall winner. These users have already generated millions of engagements for the web publishers who entered.
“I appreciate the recognition for my work, but more importantly, I am ecstatic about the distribution opportunity that Conduit provides,” said John Martin with Yallways.com. “As a small publisher, the Conduit Marketplace exposes my best stuff to a huge network of hundreds of thousands of web publishers and millions of users that I could not otherwise access. This is a remarkable opportunity for me to expose my brand and my content.”
Other notable winners included Sonic Forum for their Safe Security Scan application, Media Mule for their social network widget that includes integration with Facebook and other networks, and We7 for their music component with advanced player.
